Our current owner, Taunya Van Allen, purchased the kennel from the original owners of Shaynedoro Boarding Kennels when they retired in October 2016. Though our name has changed, not much else has. The entire staff and the policies of Winchester Kennels are the same as those of Shaynedoro Boarding Kennels.
Taunya fostered dogs for two years before taking her love for animals one step further by opening Rocky Road Rescue in 2014. This is a foster-based dog rescue focused on helping dogs find their forever homes. After running the rescue from her city home for two years, Taunya began to miss the country life and decided to move back home to spend more time working with the rescue and helping dogs.
Lisa & Joey
Lisa and Joey are two of our dog caregivers here at Winchester Kennels. The couple has been married for 18 years and has always lived in South Dundas. Lisa has been working with dogs for over 11 years and Joey for over 15 years. They are very passionate about the work they do and enjoy seeing their regular clients as well as meeting new ones each day. Both Lisa and Joey want to ensure each dog has a comfortable and enjoyable experience at Winchester Kennels.
Rocky Road Rescue
Rocky Road Rescue is a non-profit organization that rescues dogs and places them with foster families until they find a forever home. Our goal is to rescue dogs that are at high-kill shelters or northern dogs that do not have a home and roam free, and find them the care and love of a permanent home with the right family. You can learn more about Rocky Road and the dogs up for adoption by visiting the Rocky Road Facebook page.
We are located on a 10-acre piece of land, giving your dog the freedom to run and exercise!
